Bridal Shower Brunch

Bridal Shower BrunchIf you’re looking for a fun twist on a traditional bridal shower, consider throwing a bridal shower brunch!

Typically beginning at eleven o’clock in the morning, a brunch is a modern and contemporary form of celebration that retains a traditional and elegant feel.

Planning the Brunch

If you are planning to a host a bridal shower brunch, the first step is to make sure that guests know you will be serving brunch. When you send out invitations, consider adding a line that reads, “Brunch will be served.”

Designing the Menu

A brunch menu should take the best things from breakfast and lunch, and merge them together for a delectable late morning feast. Some traditional brunch dishes include smoked salmon with cream cheese and bagels, crepes, fruit salad, pasta salad, scones, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, quiche, eggs Benedict, baked apples, and devilled eggs. The brunch spread should include a wide array of both sweet and savory dishes, along with a focus on eggs and fruit.

Cheers!

A bridal shower brunch isn’t complete with a few delectable beverage options! If you predict the group will enjoy it, provide a few light alcoholic options, such as champagne, Mimosas (orange juice with champagne), Bloody Marys, and champagne punch. Wine should be on hand, as well. Other beverage options could include home made iced tea, freshly squeezed juice, and sparkling water.

A Coffee Bar

For a stylish and delicious addition to your bridal shower brunch, consider having a fabulous coffee bar, complete with different types of coffee, espresso, tea, and lots of flavorings. Again, if you feel it is appropriate for the group, have some rich additions like Baileys available. A platter of truffles and cookies will be the perfect sidekick to your array of delicious coffees.

Don’t Work Too Hard!

Be careful when you are planning your brunch, not to end up in the kitchen the entire time! You want to be able to enjoy the shower as well! That means, stay away from items you’ll need to make on the spot, such as fresh eggs or pancakes. Choose dishes that can be made and prepared in advance, and then kept warm in the oven or on the stove top, if necessary.

An Elegant End

The wise hostess always includes an “end” time on the invitation. This will allow you to keep a good structure to the day (for example, half an hour to eat, half an hour to mingle, an hour for games and an hour for gift opening, means that your brunch should run from 11:00am – 2:00pm). This allows guests to plan their days, as well.

Out of Home

If you’ve chosen to host your event at nearby restaurant or country club, you won’t need to worry about planning out your menu and cooking from scratch. Instead, make sure that the menu suits your tastes, and be sure to find out if it will be a buffet-style or plated affair. Either way, be sure to review the menu and talk to the chef to make any necessary adjustments. At this point in time, consider the bride. Is she vegetarian? Vegan? Kosher? An environmentalist? Whatever the case, be sure to take the bride’s personal tastes into consideration.

Whether you decide to host an elegant bridal shower or throw a catered affair at a local club, you’re still the host. Be sure to greet guests warmly and make everyone feel comfortable and at home. And, make sure you take some time to indulge in the delicious brunch spread you’ve put together for one of the most memorable bridal showers your guests will ever attend!
