Choosing the right food for a bridal shower can make or break your event!
Selecting a delectable arrangement of yummy sweets, scrumptious finger foods and delightful snacks will set the tone for a lovely affair.
Timing Planning a successful bridal shower has everything to do with timing and food. What time will your shower be held? If you plan to serve lunch, it should start between 12:00 and 1:30. Will it be a brunch? It should start no later than 11:00am. If you don’t plan to serve a meal, then make sure that the event doesn’t take place at a time when guests will be expecting to be fed. For a tea-time affair, begin the function at 2pm or 3pm. It’s also always a good time to put an “end time” so guests know how long they should arrange to be at the event. The timing of your event will dictate what sorts of food you will serve.
Brunch Shower Food If you plan to host a morning affair, stock up on fruit. Guests will expect an assortment of both breakfast and lunch foods. Look for yummy items such as smoked salmon with cream cheese, fresh berries, and mini sandwiches.
Lunch Shower Food Will you serving a formal sit-down lunch? If so, three courses is the standard. Treat guests to a delicious choice of soup or salad. Salads that feature artisan cheeses are very popular right now, such as Parmesan or goat cheese. The main should be a warm serving of pasta, chicken, or fish. Be sure to have some vegetarian options available for those guests who do not eat meat.
Tea Shower Food For a non-meal event such as a tea, or while drinking punch, it’s still important to have lots of food. Go for finger foods – the sorts you might expect to find at an upscale cocktail party. Scones, squares, and little cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off are perfect!
Themed Bridal Shower Food Will your event have a special theme? If so, be sure to bring it into the food! Maybe you’d like to showcase a particular culture – food is the perfect way to bring that aspect to life! Sugar cookies can be customized to virtually any theme, so consider ordering (or baking!) a few batches that will work with your style for the day.
Bridal Shower Food Games If you decide to have the bridal shower in someone’s home, why not ask each guest to bring a different dish? Just choose a theme, such as chocolate; Asian-inspired, or coffee, and let guests go nuts! Choose a mystery ingredient, such as pineapple, green tea, or dark chocolate, and have each guest make a dish that contains that ingredient – then make the bride-to-be figure out what the ingredient was and choose the winning dish!
Bridal Shower Food as Décor Food is so full of vibrant colors, it would be a sin not to use it as part of your décor! Consider renting a chocolate fountain – it looks stunning, and it’s a fun way for guests to interact with one another. Platters piled high with fruit look gorgeous. Or, for a unique spin, make fruit kabobs! Is the bride-to-be planning a beach affair? Why not serve up delicious (and elegant) seafood on an array of themed platters. Cupcakes with a seaside theme look gorgeous when presented on plates covered in brown sugar to replicate sand. Don’t be afraid to get creative! Be sure to find out if any guests have any allergies when you are planning the food for your event. If the bride has any special dietary constraints, such as a seafood allergy, a pregnancy, or a strict vegan diet, it is always a good idea to serve foods that the bride herself can enjoy.
