Going to a bridal shower?
One of the sweetest gestures you can make is to not only bring along a gift for the bride-to-be, but tuck something special for the hostess in your bag of goodies as well. The hostess is welcoming you into her home, so just like you would if she invited you to dinner, you should bring along a little something.
Kitchen Bridal Shower Hostess Gifts A kitchen-related gift is always appreciated. Gourmet treats are lovely. A bottle of wine is a nice gesture that nearly all people will appreciate (although if you don’t know the hostess, some people would advise against gifting alcohol). Why not give a fancy bottle of olive oil – it’s something that nearly all cooks can use! A hostess gift should be something the hostess can tuck away to use later – not something she should be expected to put out right away, like a plate of cookies.
Something Green Bring along a lovely little plant for the hostess – just no cut flowers, please! The last thing a hostess wants to do as she’s receiving guests is hunt down a vase, fill it with water, and arrange a bouquet in it. The kitchen is probably a zoo and a mess, so do your hostess a favor and if you want to bring flowers, bring a potted plant.
If you’re the Bride… These lovely ladies have done so much to throw you a fairytale shower – the least you can do is give them a heartfelt thank you letter along with a token gift. Most brides choose to give those helping hands a little something. Wondering what to give? Why not a gift certificate to a local spa for a pedicure, along with a framed photo from the shower? Or, treat the lucky lady to a fancy lunch where you can thank her for all her efforts. Other gift ideas could include a plate of her favorite cookies or squares, a cute handbag, or a set of personalized stationery. While it’s thoughtful to give her the gift on the day of the shower, try to do it intimately. Either steal her away for a moment or two at a natural point in the shower, or drop by her home the day after the shower with the gift. If it’s something sentimental from the shower, such as a photo of the two of you, it’s perfectly acceptable to give it to her the next week. Just don’t wait too long! Some brides arrange to have flowers delivered to the hostess’s home the day before the shower; but this should not be considered a gift since the flowers only serve to make your shower even nicer. Giving a gift with a relaxation theme is very thoughtful. A basket of creams, bubble baths, and lotions is nice. She’s worked hard to make the day a success! Throwing a shower is expensive and time consuming, so it really is a small price to pay to give your bridal shower hostess a gift to let her know how much her efforts mean to you. -- Bridal Shower Hostess Gifts --
