Plan A
Couples Bridal Shower

-- Couples Bridal Shower --

It takes two to have a wedding – and from the proposing to the planning, more and more couples are working together to make their wedding day dreams a reality. From cake-tasting to budgeting, brides and grooms are working out the wedding details side by side – so it only makes sense that there is a rising trends for couples to both partake in a “couples bridal shower.” That’s right – it’s no longer only for the ladies! If you’re thinking of planning a couples bridal shower, there are few things you need to know – after all, sipping on tea and chatting away the afternoon may not go over too well with a mixed-gender crowd!

Couples Wedding Shower Invitations

Since many invitees will be expecting a traditional women-only shower, it is important to make it very clear with the invitation that men are more than welcome! The invitation should say a “A Couples Shower for Jenny and Matthew,” and on the inside, be sure to state all the traditional information (location, time, host, and RSVP information). You may also want to include a line that simply states “Both men and women are welcome!”

Couples Wedding Shower Themes

To ensure a fantastic event, choose a fantastic theme! Since this event is no longer strictly feminine, stay away from traditional, ultra-girly themes like lingerie or teacups. Instead, choose a theme that both the bride and groom will enjoy! Consider a “Stock the Bar,” theme, where each guest brings a different item for the bar. A “Honeymoon” theme can include music and food from their honeymoon destination, and gifts that include items like swim suits and sunscreen! Or, consider a “Romance” theme, where the couple is showered with gifts that will keep the romance strong in their relationship, such as candles, wine, and romantic music. Many couples have certain things that they love to do – there are the outdoorsy couples, the travelling duos, and the sports fanatic pairs. Choose a theme that ultimately reflects their interests and hobbies!

Cocktails for Couples

In many cases, a couples bridal shower ends up resembling a cocktail party, more than a traditional shower. Consider holding the shower in the early evening, from 5pm – 8pm. Serve a variety of appetizers, and be sure to have some champagne on hand for toasting. This is perfect for an elegant, sophisticated couple!

Traditional Shower

If you’ve got your heart set on throwing a traditional shower – with men present – it takes a little bit of planning. It is important to have a set itinerary so that everyone stays involved. Consider organizing some sort of a unique game, such as a couples play-off where men and women answer questions about each other! Or, put the new couples in the spotlight and arrange a game where they must list one another’s favorite items as well as their own – then see how the answers match up! Getting Famous

For a Hollywood twist on a couples bridal shower, have each couple come dressed as a famous couple! This can also be introduced as a game of charades, where each couple is given a famous couple to impersonate.

Including both males and females at a shower will create a unique and memorable day for everyone! Be sure to send guests home with a favor that both men and women will appreciate!
